Please also be praying for the Tylers! They return at the end of December.

John (João) Ferreira de Almeida began his translation of the Portuguese Bible in 1644. The complete story is captivating, as it shows a man dedicated to Christ and guided by the Spirit to produce a wonderful and trustworthy translation of the Bible. Due to various groups taking his original work and inserting critical text material (which often includes deletions), Bro. Tom Gilmer began the Trinitarian Bible Society of Brazil to reclaim Ferreira's original work.

Thank the Lord for my parents! They came and stayed with us throughout the Thanksgiving time, and my dad worked hard to take a good family photo for us. We have been waiting a long time to get a good shot. If you would like to download a copy, use the following link.

God greatly blessed the 2011 Camp at Serra da Graça! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers. It was amazing to watch the Lord work, especially as the young people voluntarily told us how much they enjoyed everything at the camp, especially the preaching. They heard messages on the following subjects:
  • Having a Heart of Good Soil
  • Hell
  • The Trial of Your Faith
  • God Enlarging Your Vision
  • Trusting God for Your Life's Mate
  • Purity
  • God Will Guide You

They also participated in small group devotions focused on dating/courtship and marriage.

The five teens that we brought from our church were first-timers to camp. They absolutely loved it. I have spoken to their parents who've informed me that the teens can't stop talking about it. God has truly worked a miracle in our midst.

Please pray for this Sunday. In the morning service we are having a special Camp Emphasis Service. The teens will be giving testimonies and singing. I am going to bring a short message on Coming Down from the Mountain to Face Reality from Luke 4. I will also be showing a video of the camp to all the members of the church.

Also, please pray that these young people will hold to their commitments made at camp!

I will post more pictures later!

Language school was a tremendous blessing for us. We completed it a while back, but the graduation ceremony was not until last Friday. Here are some photos:

I am giving my testimony.

Notice the audience? It is 90% Korean. The language school used to be filled with American missionaries, but times change. We are thankful that it still is geared toward missionaries and that many of these Korean students are also believers. We had many opportunities to speak of Christ to those that are not believers, but it was always limited, as we each had to function within a second language (Portuguese) to communicate with each other.

Current Weather Conditions

Curious about our weather in Brazil? The seasons are reversed from the Northern Hemisphere and generally fall into two categories, wet and dry. We started our ministry in São Paulo where the temperature can get quite cold considering the average home has no heater. Up north, however, in Porto Velho (where our long-term ministry will really take off), the temperature gets very hot. The above animation shows current weather conditions in both cities. If you want to watch a short weather video in Portuguese for either city, simply click on the words above that read "Assista a previsão."
